Before someone can use the power of dreams they need to know what the dreaming process is all about. Then they need to know how to work with this process to be able to tap into its power. In Part 1 we will be discussing what dreams are and the different types of dreams.

Part 2 will discuss techniques to use when working with the dreaming process,  and how to utilize dreams to help manifest a successful life.

So, dreams, what are they and what are they not? One thing they are not is purposeless. Events, and processes, just do not occur in the physical and etheric realms without a purpose behind them. Okay, so what are dreams and the dreaming process? Two things they are are sources of wisdom and power. Yes, some experts tell us that dreaming is merely the result of neural discharges that take place in the brain. These neural discharges are necessary for brain health by facilitating the release of excess brain chemicals. Yes, this part of the explanation is true when talking about the physical, the brain. But what about the etheric part of the individual’s thinking processes, the part that can’t be dissected, the mind?

Ah, the mind - the supercomputer so to speak. Its two main levels - the conscious and the subconscious - are where the magic processes of dreaming and manifestation occur. And no, these processes don’t have to act separately from each other. In many cases, these two processes will work together to achieve a common goal. It all depends on which one of the different types of dreams are occurring.

There are five types of dreams. All serve different but equally important purposes in helping the Whole Self function in a  more healthy, efficient manner. When I say the Whole Self I’m talking about the four main bodies- levels- that comprise the whole body of the organism. They are the Spiritual Body, the Emotional Body, the Mental Body, and the Physical  Body. Dreams can come in the form of visuals - pictures and moving scenes that may run like a movie, audio sounds, voices, or emotions- sadness, joy,  anger, etc., or a combination of all three.

The five types of dreams are:

  1. Past Life Dreams

  2. Prophetic Dreams

  3. Manifestation Dreams

  4. Clearing Mind Clutter Dreams

  5. Solution, Answer Dreams

Past Life Dreams are dreams that bring you glimpses of important past life incarnations- that your Higher Self- the Soul- the eternal Spirit body has lived and experienced. They can have taken place in different time periods, different localities and could even be otherworldly, in different realms, and in different physical forms. They usually serve to bring you important pieces of information from your past incarnations. These are the pieces that are now contributing to making up the whole you in your present self who you truly are, why you behave the way you do in certain situations, and unresolved issues and lessons from past lives that still need working on.

Prophetic Dreams are dreams that bring you glimpses or full visuals of future events that will impact your present life in a positive or negative way. By paying attention to these prophetic dreams an individual may be able to avoid mishaps and tragedies or be prepared to take advantage of great opportunities before they are missed. There are many examples in religious and historical texts telling of individuals experiencing Prophetic Dreams that foreshadowed coming historical events that had a great impact on history. For example, the possibility of a  different outcome after the War Between The States ended -peaceful reunification of the United States instead of the very harsh punishment measures that were actually put in place for the losing side. The man that was working for peaceful reunification, and national healing, and had the power to implement it was President Lincoln. He had had a prophetic dream foretelling his impending death. Lincoln didn’t take the message of the dream seriously.  He was assassinated shortly after the war ended.

Manifestation Dreams are dreams used to manifest the individual what they desire - a romantic partner, financial prosperity, positive job change, etc. Manifestation Dreams can work very productively when joined with affirmation techniques practiced before going to sleep.

Clearing Mind Clutter Dreams are just that. During the nonsleeping hours of an individual’s day, their mind is constantly gathering and assimilating, and storing useful and useless tidbits of information. Stress and anxieties can build up during the day. By the time the individual is ready to go to sleep the mind has accumulated quite a bit of info and emotions. This overload of info needs to be processed. What is the mind to do with this possibly debilitating overload of info and experiences? Some will be retained and processed to be put in the mind’s memory banks. A large part will be dumped by using the brain’s neural discharges to dissipate the accumulated excess brain chemicals. Most of the time these dreams are characterized by wild, jumbled images, and cluttered visuals and appear to make no sense. But making sense isn’t their purpose. Their purpose is to keep the mind and brain healthy by clearing away accumulated info, debris, and clutter.

The Solution, Answer Dreams serve to achieve what they say - to bring you the messages you need to help you solve a problem or receive the answer to a question. For example, you want to leave your present job and have just been offered a new job with another company. You go to sleep worrying and wondering if you should leave the old and accept the new. In your dream you see yourself swimming in a lake. The water is still and stagnant. You want to swim to shore to get out of it but no matter how hard you try your strokes are taking you nowhere. You’re stuck in one spot of stagnant water. All of a sudden, a motor boat appears coming through the water towards you. The boat looks shiny and new. The man driving it appears happy and prosperous. He stops the boat and offers to give you a lift back to shore. You accept his offer and arrive back on land safe and feeling happy. The dream ends. Hopefully, you’ll remember the dream when you wake up and realize you just got the answer to your job question. The stagnant lake represented your present job where you aren’t moving forward and aren’t going to. The prosperous, happy man in the new boat represented the new job with its potential rewards and opportunities to move forward. I’m sure by now you have very little doubt as to what your decision will be.

Well, now you’re probably wondering, “What if I don’t remember my dreams? What can I do to help retain them?”

You might also be wondering how to utilize the power of dreams. These concerns will be addressed in Part 2.
