Preparing for a paranormal investigation? How exciting! Here are 6 things you should know before you set out on your ghostly adventure:
Make sure to carry extra batteries for all equipment. Aside from used batteries going bad, energy-hungry ghosts will pounce on any source of energy and drain it. Trust me, you don’t want to be in a cemetery with a great paranormal investigation unfolding, and some of your equipment suddenly malfunctions or goes dead. (please excuse - no pun intended).
Make sure you respect and follow the cemetery’s posted hours of being open. Vandalism of old cemeteries continues to be a problem. You don’t want to risk being arrested for trespassing by local law enforcement.
Be respectful of the cemetery’s ghostly residents. Sure, you might capture some evidence from a ghost who is unaware of your presence. But a lot of ghosts are more aware of the human realm than we realize. If they choose not to cooperate with you what are you going to do? All they have to do to make it harder for your equipment to pick up their presence is to dial their energy level way down. Another avoidance tactic of theirs is to just simply vanish - leave the area.
Try not to drink or do drugs before you go or while investigating (unless it’s a prescription drug you have to take). Alcohol and drugs will lower your energetic defenses and possibly make you more attractive to otherworldly lower-level types. After all, like attracts like. You really don’t want to carry anything else home with you besides your equipment and evidence.
Test all equipment before you go to avoid equipment failure. It’s also a good idea to always carry a small, extra flashlight in your equipment bag.
Dress for the weather. You want to be focused on your investigation, not distracted by the elements.
