Looking for a Haunted Cemetery? Here are Two Characteristics to Look For

So you’re looking for a haunted cemetery to search for ghosts? Okay, but what two characteristics should a cemetery have that will guarantee you to find evidence of paranormal activity? After all, what paranormal investigator wants to sit in a dark, hot, humid cemetery for hours expecting to capture the big show, and all they get are photographs of the moon, and all they record are the sounds of crickets looking for mates? Yes, they’ve gotten evidence of the natural world, especially if the mosquitoes are swarming, but no evidence of the paranormal one they came to find.

So, in an attempt to find that special, productive cemetery, you might ask people if they know of one you could use for your ghost hunt. Just be prepared that when you ask them this you might get one of two reactions. One of the reactions would be them laughing like you are both sharing a joke as they exclaim, “There ain’t no such thing as a haint, ha ha!”

The other reaction would be them trying to help you out by enlightening you with the statement, “What’s the big deal, any old cemetery will do. They’re all cities of the dead after all!” Sure, all cemeteries are alike in their purpose of providing a final resting place for the physical bodies of the deceased. But the similarity between cemeteries ends when it moves into the realm of the energetic spirit component of the deceased.

Most spirits will move on once they’ve “stepped out” of their vehicle, the physical body. They’ll move on to their True Home of Origin as I like to call it. This is the place they originally came from. Some people might call it Paradise, The Other Side, Nirvana, Heaven, the Underworld, etc. Because the majority of spirits move on from where their body is, most cemeteries can be rather void of ghosts. However, if you’re looking for spiritual activity, here are two key characteristics to look for.

Drama & Trauma

The first characteristic to look for: is a place of dramatic human activity and history. What traumatic events occurred on the cemetery grounds and surrounding area? Was there a battle with many casualties, military skirmishes, major criminal activity from the past, deadly long-running feuds between families, etc.? Most cemeteries are just lacking in an abundance of traumatic events. Spirits have to have unresolved dramatic, traumatic emotional issues that trap them, preventing them from peacefully moving on. Therefore they trap themselves in the in-between realm, the Ghost Realm.

Sources of Energy

This brings us to the second characteristic to look for: sources of energy. Ghosts, like any spirits, need reoccurring sources of energy to draw from if they’re going to be active. The Ghost Realm is a rather energetically sterile realm. Once trapped in this sterile realm, where is the ghost going to get the needed energy to be active? If the spirit is still in its physical body it’s able to recharge itself from the body’s biochemical processes. If the spirit has returned to it’s True Home Of Origin, it’s there with the Universal Source of unlimited energy.

Ghosts, not having a physical body, and basically being Homeless, must look for other ways to get energy. They will energetically feed off of anything inorganic such as electronics, or organic such as plants, humans, and other animals. Walk into most cemeteries today and the landscaping consists of manicured lawns and artificial flower arrangements. Now, this may be a beautiful cemetery but to an energy-hungry ghost it looks rather barren. After all, what energy is a ghost going to get from a plastic flower? Zilch! Ah, but the cemetery whose landscaping consists of a vast array of trees, plants, and shrubs, it’s a veritable feast of energy sources! Such a cemetery is an irresistible magnet for ghosts - let the feeding begin!

Happy Ghost Hunting!

Now that you know these two important characteristics to look for, you’re on your way to finding that special haunted cemetery. I wish you luck and happy ghost hunting!
